Trains, horses, goats and a the dairy farm

Isaac, my boy who loves trains, encouraged us to go to see the N and HO gauge model railroad club at Alpenrose Dairy. Little did I know that our day, thankfully, would entail much more than the sounds of train whistles (though I did have a nice time with all the sweet old men showing us their trains and engaging the children).Alpenrose has a "Storybook Village." It is the cute model of an old town. You can wander into the shops and see old boots, tools, clothing, wash tubs, cook stoves and pianos. The little buildings also include an ice cream parlor (of course), bank, theater, and school house.
To top it off, there is a little stable there. They educated us on goats, miniature horses, and chickens. They graciously showed let us pet all the animals. The kids LOVED it! It felt like our own, private county fair.
After a great morning at church and a day of adventure at Alpenrose, Isaac said, "Okay, now what fun thing do we do next?""Are you kidding me?!?" The danger in taking them out all the time is that they don't know how (or at least, seem to forget) to just play at home. The GO, GO, GO family needs to learn how to be at home...
I know where we live; we'll have lots of time to be at home this winter. These last two pictures capture our kids' personalities...EXACTLY!
