When the housing market changed and the Carvers told us that they were having a baby, we moved our Disneyworld trip to a Disneyland road trip. We have been building the kids up for months about all the fun things they would see and do at the park. They were so excited! So were we.
We packed up the van with food, snacks, drinks and clothes for a two week road trip from Portland to Anaheim. 10 hours the first day with about 9 the next. We stayed at a wonderful 2 bedroom Worldmark resort that was within walking distance of Disney (hurray, no parking to pay for). While there we had time "swimming" in the "jungle spa."
No one told Mickey that we were coming from Oregon and were looking forward to sunshine. Despite pouring rain and the the kids getting sick with fevers, we made many wonderful memories.
Disneyland highlights included:
*Being drenched in the rain and singing silly songs while wearing ghetto rain coats (trash bags)
*Seeing Isaac's smile as he rode the train
*The World of Color
*Watching the "magic" of Disney in our kids' faces as they rode the cars, submarine, monorail, Splash Mt., Big Thunder Mt. and Small World.
*Isaac riding "big rides" with Daddy and talking him (him being Daddy, not Isaac) through so he didn't barf or freak out (Flying Over California & Grizzly Rapids...with a little help from paper towels in the shoes)
*Isaac telling Abigail in the haunted house, "It's okay Abigail. It's not real. It is just music and decorations...and God is always with us!"
*Seeing Abigail dance and shake at all the parades and bands we passed by; she LOVES music!
*Watching the princesses sweetly greet Abigail
*All the candy that the Opfermans treated us to
*Laughing in fear on the Ferris Wheel as it rose and swung back and forth (with the exception of Abigail who was not scared at all)
