It's easy to see the difficulties that allergies bring to our family, specifically to Isaac at school. Well, one of the hardships was him being isolated at the peanut-free table with only kids selected (forced) to sit with him because they had no peanut products in their lunch, whether they wanted to or not. It made me sad and made him feel awkward. We press through, prayed, and still praised God that he had a staff at school that worked hard to keep him safe at a table that "special" for him.
How that "trial" of the peanut-free table had turned to a praise. Isaac now needs an extra chair at his table to include all his friends that want to sit with him. He has a buddy in his class that only eats peanut butter, that has switched to almond butter in order to sit with him every day. Not only that, but his best buddies from his kindergarten class last year sit with him and are purposeful to leave PB out of their lunch just so they can be together.
The really awesome part about that is that he would not have been able to sit with those friends if he didn't have a peanut allergy. Normally, students are only allowed to sit at the tables for their own class. Some of his buddies from kindergarten have another teacher this year and would not be able to sit with him. Thankfully, because Isaac can have whoever is safe from any of the first grade classes, he and his best buddies can all sit together at their special table.
His "special" table had a negative connotation at the beginning of the school year; now I can easily praise God for how wonderful and "special" his table is.
