Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst...welling up to eternal life." John 4:13,14

Christmas Letter 2012
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” ~2 Corinthians 1:2-4
Though we have had major life transitions, God is sustaining us so they have felt pretty “easy.” This year has been a season of coming along side those we know and love that have needed burdens carried. In past years we have desperately clung to the Lord in the trials we faced. As we walked through those, He has seen us through. Now we are more equipped to be there to pray for others with a depth of compassion and emotional understanding strengthened by Christ in order to minister to them. We praise God for the trials and the times of ease that cause us to fix our eyes on Him.
Chris has started a new job with D.R. Horton. He continues in the same profession, selling new construction homes. He loves his new staff and the company for whom he works. Though he anticipated working for his previous company for years to come, God clearly directed his path in this unexpected direction. We are so thankful for His plan that is so much bigger and better than we can fathom. Chris is working longer hours, but the Lord continues to provide for our family. Amidst his long hours, Chris still faithfully serves at Isaac’s school every Thursday and at AWANAS every Wednesday night. He also makes sure he wrestles and snuggles with the kiddos and never is too busy to be a loving husband. He is such a blessing to our family.
Amber is busy with many volunteer opportunities including AWANAS, serving in the nursery, teaching Art Literacy at Isaac’s school, teaching at Abigail’s co-op preschool, and developing a curriculum for a 13 week children’s program at church that starts in the Spring. She has been privileged to nanny in the morning at our home for two sweet kiddos that our family loves. She is getting used to the new routine. Chris graciously encourages Amber to have “girl time” with other moms that really helps her to regroup and reenergize. She is praying for the ability to maintain the balance of filling the schedule and still “scheduling” enough time to invest in our home and our family. God is good, and we trust Him for endurance, direction, strength and peace.
Isaac, 6 and in the first grade, is adjusting to long days at school. God has blessed our family with a great teacher who cares for protecting him/his allergies and thoroughly communicates with us. He is working hard to share his attention with 29 other students in class, but he still LOVES to talk. He is bright and is making great progress so far this year in school. Isaac still insists that he never wants to play sports and wants to be an engineer. He loves LEGOS, building, creating and Larryboy. He has discovered a love of piano (maybe inheriting some musical talent from his Grandpa Rick) and is excited to play songs this Christmas.
Abigail, 4 and in preschool, is spunky even though she can fly under the radar. She is blossoming in our preschool co-op, ballet, and AWANAS. She is amazing at memorizing Bible verses, songs, and lines from books, and can perform perfect renditions of voices/accents she heard on a movie or CD book. Abigail still enjoys her fill of princesses, dress up and all things girly. She has a wit and cracks us up. Her facial expressions are classic; we think she may be bound for the theatre one day.
Whether this year is a year of ease or a year of trial, we pray that the LORD Jesus would be your strength, your shield and your hope. May your eyes be fixed on the One who loved us so much that He sent His Son to be born with the intention of going to the cross on our behalf to offer us forgiveness, peace, and joy that surpasses all understanding.
Merry Christmas and Happy 2013!!! ~The Korenthals
