Our day was kind of like the pictures. It was fun and adventurous, but it was not "picture perfect." Many days are like that, especially when you are a mommy with young children.
It is normal to only want to share the moments where everyone looks good, but sometimes it's nice to share the moments that are true to life.
| See the mud on Abigail's pants/shoes? |
Some of our true to life moments of the day:
*We took over SO LONG loading the car, clicking in 6 car seats, potty runs etc.
*When were were half way to our destination, we realized that neither of our boys has shoes on.
*We made an "emergency run" to Walmart and bought our boys sandals. In order not to unload and reload all the children, my friend and I took turns "running in" to purchase new footwear...and we misjudged the size and had to go back for a return and new purchase.
*In the Walmart parking lot, we had a crying baby, 5 hungry kiddos, and a toddler who needed a nap...and a mommy who was trying to entertain them all by dancing to Veggie Tales, shaking the car and passing out pretzels from Trader Joes. That mommy finally resorted to driving around the parking lot.
*The sunny weather turned to drizzle when we arrived
*Two of our girls fell into the mud (in what appeared to be the only two patches of mud in all the farm)
*I accidentally buckled the baby car seat with the buckle from the drivers seat (I was wondering why it wasn't fitting right...Isaac pointed out I used the wrong one).
*Isaac "ran away" unannounced a few times (and really believed that it was okay because he was exploring the tulips)
*When I finally buckled in the baby, we started to drive away with the van door completely open. Johnny and the beeping van warned us before we got too far.

Life is like of chocolates...:):):) I love you and transparency.
Ah yes, this made me laugh! We had two kids fall in mud puddles when we were there but still it was fun. It's what memories are made of, right? I love how you go each year with the O's. You'll have a fun series of pictures to put together after several years.
Another moment that had us laughing...Beth was trying to feed Nathan. The wind was blowing hard in the perfect direction to make the nursing blanket fly up like a kite...she could not keep it down no matter how hard she tried. We finally used the stroller to block her and the wind a bit.

Too fun! Love the honest post, what an adventure!
Loved the pictures!! Tough crowd to corral for a picture, though.
