Well, the day started off with going to gma and papa's house to build a giant play structure that they bought at Costco. Hubby and I were doing well until a wrench that I was holding (obviously not tight enough) came swinging around and cracked across my hand. It immediately started swelling and was black and blue. We tried to buy a finger splint last night, but they didn't have any at the two stores we went to and the drug store was closed by the time we got there. I have posted a picture of my homemade splint for your enjoyment. Despite the injury, we are almost done building it. Hubby and I forgot how much we love building things together. We really like doing projects together, and (even if we get hurt or have to undo and redo parts that we built backwards the first time) we do a pretty good job...we're a pretty handy couple. We'll take pictures of the completed "park at grandma's" (as our son calls it) when we finish it next week.
In the evening, we had the best time at a BBQ with friends from church. It is so awesome when your friends live on a farm!
Highlights:*The men playing frisbee*The kiddos obsessed with the tractor and the sprinkler watering the crops*The perfect weather and sunset*The "swords" (sticks) that the kids found to play with*The marshmallows that the kids and adults were wearing on their faces after eating way too many smores (on a fire that hubby made in the BBQ that, thankfully, didn't burn down our friends' home)*The enjoyment of just letting the kids run around while the adults enjoyed the time together...it was fun and really relaxing at the same time!
The video is awesome...we didn't tell the kids to line-up or say "HI!!!", they just did it all on their own. The farm worker was better than a movie star to the kiddos...it was awesome!
