Kinder Field Trip

Gramma watched Abigail while Chris and I joined Isaac and his class at Camp Tilikum. It was a fun outdoor adventure with lots of happy (and wet) moms, dads, kids, and teachers. Highlights included fishing, boating, high ropes walking, hiking, and salamanders.

It stuck me how many kids don't experience nature the way our family does, even though we so many opportunities all around us...seriously, we live in Oregon. One of the kindergarten teachers kept enthusiastically saying, "Isn't this amazing for the kids to experience this?!?" For many of the students, it was a first (or one of a very few) for them to explore God's creation in such a tangible way.

Learning about school in the "old days"

Boys lost to the girls in the tug (ratio of boys to girls 7 to 18)

Mrs. Meyer's class

Brave boys

"Go Isaac Go!!!"

Chris worked the "tree house" station for over 100 kinders...his voice was tired at the end of the day from cheering

First salamander

Rainy Boat Ride
So happy that we get to participate in Isaac's class together
I am thankful that this day added to a love for the outdoors that we have already instilled in Isaac. I am thankful to see him educating other kids on the seeds hiding on the backs of the fern leaves and showing them the spittle bugs hiding in their little bubbles. It was his first time holding a salamander. That was really cool. That just goes to show, there is always more to know, learn, build and grow.
