and were just happy being together.
Even though we both live in the Northwest, we have never really spent time together (without our children). So, to celebrate her big day, we went bargain hunting, Christmas shopping and out to eat at Aqui Mexican Cafe
After dinner we spent the evening at Comedy Sportz. (We are convinced the Christina's husband Steve should work there and do improv. I know I'd pay to see him!)
It was so great just to be together as adults talking and laughing and just doing the "normal" things we rarely get to do apart from the kids.
When we were younger, we used to live 2 blocks apart in California and our houses were even the same floor plan. For fun we did the normal things like ride bikes, go to the pool, hiking, boy chasing...but we also we very silly together. We'd dress up in costumes and go walking on a regular afternoon while speaking in accents...just to be weird. One time (on one of the rare rainy days in southern California) we went for a walk in giant black trash bags and pretended to be California Raisins. We were often seen using our babysitting money to shop for clothes at Clothestime or Miller's Outpost while still wearing our pink sponge curlers in our hair.
It is fun to know someone for so long and know that they have been there through it all...and will be there for years to come.
